Dropping his instant mixtape classic ‘Ur Mum Volume One’, being battered on radio from commercial to pirate and having mind blowing battles with the scene’s biggest MC’s. Fast-forward to 2006 and nothing new is heard from the ever so confident lyricist. 06’ saw the Emergence of the more typical ‘Grime MC’ fast flowing over traditional sounding grime instrumentations. Mention a ‘Top 5’ in ’05 Bashy’s name was a Main Stay, a year later do the same and his name is but a whisper. The Scene seemed to be missing one of its Most Charismatic and unique MC’s. Was this due to Bashy slacking in the lyric and work ethic departments? No! Ask any fan of Music and they will tell you that” he is straight fire!” But “where is his material?” they will ask. Ask any of the Industries respected professionals from Logan to your Favourite MC and they will tell you “Bashy is one of the Leading MC’s in the Country”. Ask Bashy aka Ashley Thomas where he’s been for the past year, his answer will simply be “Personal & Family problems!” This seems to be the source of which has taken his focus away from Music. Bashy has utilised his respect and has since collaborated with many of the Grime scenes favourite producers and MC’s. He Re-enters the Music world with his extraordinarily experimental ‘The Chupa Chups Mixtape’ featuring MC’s Scorcher, Wretch 32 and Big Narstie. It also boasts production from Davinche, Low Deep, Virgo, Naughty Boy and Even Scorcher! Bashy seems to have grown up slightly when asked about battling his response is blunt “Fuck It! Look the at whole Titch ting, I aint got the time. I’m not trying to get myself killed or kill someone over some stupid lyrics. I leave clashing to them man…” He is also concerned about the amount of black boys being killed due to the countries rising gun culture. “ My music talks about the street from the perspective of a young black man growing up in London & the struggle we face everyday. I am a voice from the Trident patrolled areas! I am a street commentator!” His passion for Acting is still intact. The former BRIT School student has been provisionally cast for the BBC 3’s Sitcom ‘Wicked’’. When asked about it he just laughs and says “If I do eventually get it then I get It, If I don’t… well I do not believe in negative’s but its back to my agent for more castings.” He also states he is looking to get back on his theatre acting and is looking at a few Shakespeare Scripts to get himself reacquainted. “I’ve just been preparing myself mentally for 2007… You become bait when you put yourself out for everyone to judge so I’m just getting ready.
